A series of supporting policies have been released to boost the development of large companies.

On the theme conference held on Nov 16 in a bid to discuss further measures to promote these companies, Wang Guoping, member of the standing committee of CPC Zhejiang Committee and chief secretary of CPC Hangzhou Committee, put forward the necessary elements for building large influential companies: proportionate R&D investment, high innovation capability, effective capital operation, continuous expansion, branding elevation, credibility, international collaboration, development vision, talents cultivation, product quality, reformation, administrational innovation and robust future growth possibility.

81 companies from Hangzhou made into the Top 500 Private Companies in 2008, ranking first among all Chinese cities. 38 Hangzhou companies rank among the China Top 500 Large-sized Enterprises, topping all the other large- and medium-sized cities. Fifty-six Hangzhou companies are included on the China Top 1,000 Enterprises, surpassing all the other cities with the deputy provincial administrational level. 21 Hangzhou companies are included on the China Top 500 Enterprises, ranking fourth among all Chinese cities.
