Hangzhou affected by gas shortage, radio says

2009-November-17 13:29:18

China’s central provinces are facing natural gas shortages as the government diverted the fuel to meet higher heating demand in the north after heavy snowfalls, the China National Radio reported.

China is pumping more gas to the north, reducing supplies to the central cities of Wuhan, Hefei, Nanjing and Hangzhou, the radio reported on its Web site today, without saying where it got the information.

One third of the residential users in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province, were affected, it said. Low domestic gas prices also discouraged gas producers from expanding output, according to the report.
