Hosts of Hangzhou's restaurants, KTVs and bars organize all kinds of activities to bring them into play and help them make more friends of the opposite sex. |
November 11 is known as Singles’ Day in China because of the four “1s” in the date—the 11th date of the 11th month—representing singles. Single youth gather to celebrate their single independence, friendship and maybe even find love at parties, KTV venues or bars.
“Singles’ Day provides a suitable chance to know single friends of the opposite sex,” a waitress at a KTV in Hangzhou who didn’t give her name said.
She had invited her single friends to sing karaoke in a luxurious private room at the KTV bar after work, which she had booked. “All attendees are single, and we make friends with each other. We not only immerse ourselves in singing happily over the festivity, but are also likely to get to know a lifelong companion, which is amazing,” the young woman said.
Various KTVs and bars in Hangzhou have also launched a series of activities to attract youngsters.
“We will organize all kinds of activities to bring them into play and help them make more friends of the opposite sex,” said the boss of a bar located in Hangzhou’s Hubin Street who didn’t give his name. He even themed this year’s Singles’ Day as “Special man and woman, such a happy couple, one city, one happiness” for his bar.
