Mayors from 29 delegations and guests from six foreign embassies were on hand at the opening ceremony of the "Friendship Tree Planting" & "West Lake Walking Tour" in the Santaimengji Grassland near the West Lake in Zhejiang's Hangzhou on Saturday morning.

Mayors from 29 delegations and guests from six foreign embassies were on hand at the opening ceremony of the "Friendship Tree Planting" & "West Lake Walking Tour".

Cai Qi, mayor of Hangzhou, along with mayors from other cities from abroad planted malus spectabilis trees, a fragrant tree and a favorite of Hangzhou people. They blossom every April and May with a cluster of flowers. The tree planting symbolizes the long standing friendship between Hangzhou and the sister cities. After watering the newly-planted trees, the mayors took pictures in front of them and later walked along the West Lake to take in its beautiful scenery.
