The construction of a livable city should stick to the human-oriented principal, said Shen Jianzhong, Director-General of the Department of Real estate market supervision of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural development. He also urged the government to balance three aspects – city feature, city development and people’s life.

Shen made the comments in a speech at the 2009 Global Livable City Forum, which was held on October 18 at the Zhejiang Narada Grand Hotel. Cai Qi, Mayor of Hangzhou city attended the forum.
