One of China's leading travel service companies, Ctrip.com, released a list of the most popular tourist destinations during this year’s Golden Week holiday.
Experts from Ctrip studied reservations for hotels, air tickets and holiday products between September 30 and October 9, and together with the website page views, they compiled a list of the most popular tourist destinations during the National Day holiday.
1. The top 10 Chinese cities where travelers came from:
Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chongqing, Xi’an.
2. The top 10 most popular cities for travel:
Beijing – The National Day celebrations, parades and seeing the Olympic venues;
Shanghai – An international metropolis;
Hangzhou –The West Lake and its park open to the public;
Hong Kong –The discounted price for hotels and entertainment activities make it popular;
Chengdu –Look at the reconstruction after the May 12 earthquake and "Gold Panda Card" holders can visit 11 scenic spots in Chengdu for free;
Xiamen, Qingdao, Dalian - Seashore holiday resorts;
Nanjing, Xi’an - Traditional cultural tourism cities.
3. The overall top 10 popular cities travelers visited this year:
Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Xi’an, Qingdao, Xiamen, Shenzhen.
Ctrip also released the top 10 popular inbound and outbound tourist destinations.
Top 10 inbound spots:
Beijing, Sanya (Hainan), Hangzhou, Guilin, Chengdu, Xiamen, Lijiang (Yunnan), Qingdao, Jiuzhaigou (Sichuan), Huangshan (Anhui).
Top 10 outbound destinations:
Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Maldives, Malaysia, Taiwan and the US.
