A friendship memorandum will signed between Hangzhou and Olomouc in the Czech Republic at the 2009 Hangzhou International Sister City Mayors Conference with the theme of“City and Culture” .

The Mayors Conference, one of the most important parts of the 11th West Lake International Expo, will be held at the Hangzhou Shangri-La Hotel between October 15 and 18 to promote the development of culturally creative industry in Hangzhou. During the summit, mayors and representatives from sister cities will discuss three issues – developing a culturally creative city industry; protecting and inheriting historical sites; communicating and cooperating on city cultures.

Mayors and representatives from 22 cities from abroad and seven locally are expected to attend the conference. Counselors appointed by other countries in China will also be invited to the summit, during which Declaration on Culture Cooperation will be announced.
