Nearly 4 million people were attracted to visit the New West Lake during the National Day by various favorable measures.

Since 2001, Hangzhou Municipal Committee of CPC and Hangzhou Municipal Government have launched all-round constructions works to improve the West Lake's ecology protection, environmental optimization, scenery restoration, water quality management, new countryside construction.

“Imperial Street” was running well behind, with more than 1 million visitors.

Southern Song Imperial Street

A manager of the branch of the Hu Qing Yu Tang drugstore, a traditional brand, said: "There were so many visitors that we didn't have enough time to prepare the free water."

Zhongshan Road, otherwise known as the Southern Song Imperial Street, will finally be unveiled to the public tomorrow.

The opening of Southern Song Imperial Street makes it possible for the old to recall the past, the young to experience fashion, foreigners to “taste” China and the Chinese to “touch” the world.

Over 12 million tourists visited scenery spots in Hangzhou from Oct. 1st to 8th, according the statistics released by Hangzhou Municipal Holiday Administration Office, 24.15% increase compared with the “golden week” last October.

The tourism generated 4.64 billion RMB revenues, seeing an increase of 37.93% compared with the National Day holiday last year.
