China's largest rooftop photovoltaic (PV) power generation project, a 2 megawatt (MW) rooftop PV power plant located in the Hangzhou Energy and Environmental Industries Zone, was recently put into operation.
Funded and built by Zhejiang Energy Conservation Company, the plant has an expected annual generation capacity of up to 2 million kWh, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 1,000 three-person families.
Compared to a thermal power plant with the same amount of power, the rooftop PV power plant can save over 700 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions by 1,000 tons, 10 tons and 6.2 tons respectively each year.
