The so-called biggest canteen for senior citizens finally opened in Wenxin Community. An area of 200 square meters can house 60 people with a VIP room designed for a birthday party or for friends’ gathering for the elders.

During the 2 day trial operation more than 500 residents were served. For most of them, it was too hot and troublesome to buy from the food market and cook at home.

An order of 20 yuan for 2 people with vegetables and meat in the canteen was very convenient and nutritious.

The canteen prepares more than 20 kinds of dishes everyday, and most of the dishes are designed for the elders so that the dishes are not salty and oily, even the rice is much softer.

Price is also quite friendly, thanks to a government subsidy for such canteens. Vegetables are priced at 1.00-2.50 yuan and soup is free, while meat is priced at 5.00-8.00 yuan.

After the trial operation, the canteen will also add breakfast into their service list. Free delivery will also be arranged later.

Due to the low price and choice of dishes, the canteen attracts not only the elders but also young people who live or work in the area. At peak time, elders sometimes cannot even find places to sit and to solve this problem, the canteen will leave out an area specifically just for elders.
