Hangzhou: the first city to use PV power in Zhejiang

Zhejiang’s photovoltaic industry is set to receive financial support from the government according to Hangzhou.gov.cn

The government will take three measures to develop the PV industry on a large scale: financial subsidy, technical support and market driving. In 2 to 3 years, projects with a capacity above 500 megawatts will get a direct subsidy.

Hangzhou will be the first city in Zhejiang province with electricity from a PV plant supplying its grid. A solar plant with 2 megawatt capacity is under construction in Hangzhou Energy and Environment Industrial Park. By the end of next month, the first PV plant will start generating power, symbolizing the official beginning of government subsidy PV project.

It is a milestone showing the first step Zhejiang is taking to transform itself to a low carbon economic province.
