After collecting 320490 votes from citizens and experts, 80 top locations for “quality life” stood out from a field of 2010 candidates.

The locations covered all aspects of city life from tourism and leisure to model industries and will act as a window for quality of life standards in Hangzhou.

40 Minutes

A 40-minute-driving living zone, working zone and economic zone between Shanghai and Hangzhou, will be built under the request of a tight connection from East Hangzhou to Shanghai Hongqiao and Changning District by Hangzhou government.

129.7 Square km

By the end of 2008, Hangzhou’s forest cover reached 64% with 1.061 million hectares, becoming the top among 15 cities at the municipal level. In the last 3 years, green land coverage hit 129.7 square kilometers seeing Hangzhou being awarded the “State Forest City”.

RMB 15.989 Billion

Hangzhou tourism revenue grew by 12.1% to RMB15.989 billion in the first quarter of 2009. Due to the financial crisis, the number of international inbound tourists remained the same as the first quarter of last year. However, the number of domestic tourists increased by 8.4%.

According to the survey on China Top 100 Real Estate Developers 2009, 13 Hangzhou-based developers such as Greentown, Binjiang and Jindu kept their seats in the short list while Zhongda and Zhejiang Lander entered for the first time.

5000 Households

In the aim of assuring everybody has access to clean drinking water, 22 communities in West Lake District became the pilots in “drinking-from-tap” project. 5000 households will be equipped with purifying water machines from district health office and the municipal water supply company.
