As a part of a three-year-long plan to monitoring major chronic diseases, Hangzhou residents above 35 years old will receive free blood pressure and blood sugar tests from the government.
It is estimated that 2 million citizens will benefit from the program. Check-up records will be filed, and risk evaluations for contracting key chronic diseases over the next ten years will be given to the citizens.
An officer from the Municipal Health Office pointed out that in recent years, death caused by chronic disease accounts for above 85 percent of all recent deaths. According to the latest investigation, 40.25 percet of residents above 35 years old may have hypertension, 13.44 percent may have diabetes, 30.72 percent may have dyslipidemia while 37.74 percent people are overweight. It indicates chronic disease tend to occur more and in younger generation.
From now on, citizens can go to community clinics to get check-ups and set up personal health files. Community doctors will also call residents for registration and archive relevant materials. |
