In August, the State Tourism Bureau released results of the nation’s first tourist satisfaction survey, creating a new level of standard in the Chinese tourism industry. Survey outcomes in the second quarter of 2009 showed Hangzhou, Wuxi, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Shenyang, Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai performing well with scores above 80 out of 100 points, among which Hangzhou got the highest score. Among the 40 cities listed on the domestic tourism survey the average score was 78.9.
For years Hangzhou has excelled in the tourism industry. Hangzhou offers free admission to many tourist destinations such as West Lake, Xixi Wetland, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and many others.
In addition, many travel industry professionals have been exposed to advanced training to ensure they excel at offering high quality services for tourists from all over the world looking to sightsee, eating out, seeking accommodations and scheduling trips.
