Preliminary investigation into Hangzhou’s industrial heritage carried out by Municipal Planning Bureau has been completed. 55 industrial relics, which were judged to have made a major impact on the city, have found while 29 are already in the preservation list.
There are currently two ways to preserve industrial heritage. One is to integrate the relics into city planning, a solution generally seen as a good way to balance development and preservation. The other is that relic owners can present their proposals to city planning bureau about how to revitalize old factory workshops and buildings so they continue to contribute to the city in new ways.
