An official tea drinking day was held in Hangzhou on the morning of April 20. Wang Guoping, Secretary of Hangzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, announced the start of the event. Leaders and experts including Liu Feng, Director of China Tea Culture Research Committee, attended. It was organized by the Hangzhou Communist Party Committee and the Hangzhou municipal government as well as eight national tea industries.

April 20 is this year’s Grain Rain Festival according to the Chinese lunar calendar, and the festival indicates the start of peak season of picking up green tea.
