Pingnan boosts cultural tourism development

Over ten plans were launched, including officially applying for world cultural heritage status for Fujian and Zhejiang wooden arch bridge, drawing up its Administration Plan of the Protection of Pingnan Fujian and Zhejiang Wooden Arch Bridge Heritage Location. Qiansheng Bridge and Wan’an Bridge were repaired; Rules and Regulations of the Protection of Pingnan Fujian and Zhejiang Wooden Arch Bridge Heritage Location was released; the protection plan for Chang Bridge, Shuangxi and Tangkou were edited and revised.
Additionally, the Gan Guobao legend and Pingnan red rice making and Shaoxing Wine making techniques entered the national level cultural heritage list; Four books, including Pingnan Wooden Arch Bridge Mapping Monograph, Siping Play, and Pingnan Local Opera Study Materials were published; and finally a Baishuiyang photography and sketching base was built to make it the provincial and municipal demonstrative base of the sports industry.
Gan Guobao (1709-1776) is revered by people across the Taiwan Straits for his great contribution to Taiwan’s defense and development during his military tour on the island. Gan Guobao culture, which was deeply rooted in the land of Pingnan, plays an important role in historical literacy, cultural continuation and patriotic awareness for the locals, especially for the young.
