The wedding customs of the Torghut clan was presented at two scenic spots in Hejing county of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region during August 25-27.
In the past, marriages were arranged by parents, and the children were not allowed to choose their partners. Nowadays, they can choose their spouses freely, but some traditional customs still follow the older rules. Normally, the whole wedding process includes proposing marriage, visiting the mutual families, giving the bride's family gifts, building a new yurt, holding a banquet, the wedding ceremony itself, and the bride returning to visit her family.
