Exhibition in a class of its own

Picasso's Mother and Child highlights the 2012 Shanghai Fine Jewelry and Art Fair. Provided to China Daily

The 2012 Shanghai Fine Jewelry and Art Fair (SFJAF), part of The 14th China Shanghai International Arts Festival, will be held at Shanghai Exhibition Center.

As one of the most influential art events in China, the fair will exhibit top class antique furniture, paintings of masters, modern and contemporary art works and fine jewelry.

All exhibits are strictly examined by an independent committee composed of curators and international experts to ensure the standards of the SFJAF.

The fair, covering about 3,500 square meters, gathers works from 14 countries such as Russia, Japan, the Netherlands, France and China.

It includes more than 500 collections from about 50 top-level galleries such as Bernard De Leye, Lorenz Baumer and Pearl Lam.

Exhibition in a class of its own

Key pieces on exhibit are Picasso's Mother and Child, an Italian Renaissance circular work of art, as well as masterpieces by Marc Chagall, Claude Monet, Andy Warhol and Anthony van Dyck.

Influential Chinese oil paintings created in the 1970s by He Kongde, Gao Hong and Peng Bin are also on display.

Oil paintings in this period, dubbed as Scar Fine Arts School, has turned the painting style from heroism and idealism to realism and populism.

The exhibition is an excellent opportunity for groups of art collectors and lovers to see and purchase the top quality art collections.
