Get in a car and head to the Golden Castle in the depths of Yuen Long's countryside. The restaurant is a throwback to the early days of Hong Kong fusion food, where waiters are dressed in bow ties and politely defer to guests. Liberal use of mayonnaise and puff pastry yield surprisingly delicious results. Since 1979, Golden Castle has been dishing up standards such as pasta, steak and rice dishes to hungry folks. Take a seat on the large terrace to soak up the garden atmosphere while enjoying a pint or two of beer on draft. More substantial fare include pork knuckle baked crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. - Rebecca Lo
