Yuan Yunfu has created Chinese ink paintings, oil paintings, illustrations, designs and public art creations throughout his 60-year career.
His major contributions are in two areas - he has added local elements to oil paintings and advanced Chinese ink painting's modern development.
His most representative scroll, The Great Yangtze River, is on show at his ongoing solo exhibition in the Gate of Divine Prowess' exhibition hall at the Palace Museum. Yuan will donate the scroll and four others to the museum.
