Photo competition kicks off

The 2010 National Geographic Photo Contest has kicked off worldwide and the Chinese edition of National Geographic will organize the division contest in China.

Photographers can compete in six categories, including animals/wildlife, nature, people/culture, travel, weather, action/energy. The Chinese edition of National Geographic and sponsor Mercedes-Benz will also arrange for some photographers to visit the headwater of the Lancang River, Yangtze River and Yellow River to photograph this unique area. These photos will compete for a special prize.

The finalists of the Chinese division will be announced in September and their photos will be sent to the US to compete in the National Geographic Photo Contest.
