Painted Skin: The Resurrection, the film that created box office records in China, will have a television drama version soon.
The film, released on June 28, is the highest-grossing local film, earning 50 million yuan ($119 million) and has the premiere day box office record of 70 million yuan among domestic films.
The television show has a new cast of young rising actors such as Liu Kaiwei, Ying Er and Qiao Zhenyu.
Liu's girlfriend, Yang Mi, plays a supporting role in the Painted Skin film. Liu says they discussed how to portray his role, a general trapped between the choice of his wife and an enchanting fox spirit.
The show is now in post-production and will be released later this year.
