Malaysian singer-songwriter Michael Wong paid a visit to Laos days ago, lending hope to people struggling in poverty by joining them in their daily labor.
Wong, an ambassador for the charity campaign "30 Hour Famine" under World Vision, said the key to truly helping the poor is teaching them how to create wealth instead of simply handing out food and money.
Wong visited an elementary school and distributed stationery during his three-day trip, sina.com.cn reported.
It is heartwrenching to see how overwhelmingly excited the children are on receiving our presents, the star said.
Wong also experienced the daily life of Laos, working shoulder to shoulder with Laotians in the fields.
