Kidman set for radio switchNicole Kidman in central Rome at the weekend. She's due to attend the world premier of Fur, based loosely on the life of photographer Diane Arbus.

Nicole Kidman may make a switch from the big screen to radio, with British director Anthony Minghella saying he's been discussing a radio project with the Oscar winning Australian actor.

Minghella directed Kidman in 2003's Cold Mountain and said he had been in discussions with her about another project.

"I would love to work with her (Kidman) again," said Minghella at the Toronto International Film Festival, where his latest film, Breaking and Entering, is screening.

"We might do a radio piece together. I love the radio."

The Britain-based Minghella said he and Kidman had talked about working together on a radio play for the BBC.

"I don't know whether we will do it or not, we just share an interest in a poet, Anne Carson - she is wonderful," he said.

"So we were talking about it. "

Breaking and Entering will be released in Australia later this year. Minghella wrote and directed the film, which stars Robin Wright Penn, Martin Freeman, Juliette Binoche and Jude Law.

The film was shot in London and tells of an architect whose offices are broken into several times, causing him to reevaluate his life.

Production on the film was often disrupted by paparazzi trying to get photographs of Jude Law on the set and behind the scenes.

Minghella compared Nicole Kidman to Law, in that her private life was often played out in the media, adding that working was often the only place she felt safe from photographers.

"Work is the most private place that she (Kidman) has," he said.

"So for her filming, which is where you are pretending to be someone else, is also where you feel most yourself - because you have only got one camera on you and it is not a camera that is interested in your private life.

"And I think that was probably true for Jude (on Breaking and Entering), he was able to relax in the workplace rather than be exposed in it."

Meanwhile, Minghella said he wasn't able to make it to Kidman's wedding to Keith Urban this year because of work on his latest film.

But the pair keep in regular contact.

"We are still great emailers," he said, adding, "she is a great woman".
