1887: Four sunflower paintings
In February of 1886, Van Gogh went to Paris, and being influenced by the impressionism, he fell in love with sunflowers here and began painting them. Four sunflower paintings were completed in 1887, and were put on display in Paris. Though this exhibition was not very successful, these sunflower paintings attracted Paul Gauguin' attention, and the two got to know each other.
