The photographic exhibition Gazing at the Contemporary World: Japanese Photography from the 1970s to the Present is an overview of the diverse photographic expression that has emerged in Japan since the 1970s.
Having toured the world since its inception in 2007, the exhibition is now coming to Beijing, where it will open at the China Central Academy Of Fine Arts on June 28.
The exhibition, curated by Rei Masuda of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, consists of 76 photographs by 23 illustrious Japanese photographers, including Moriyama Daidō and Nobuyoshi Araki.
Divided into two sections, A Changing Society and Changing Landscapes, the exhibition captures changes in Japan, both human and landscapes of cities, suburbs, rural villages and nature.
