Online entrepreneurs get boost from Heyi, Alibaba

Major online entertainment operator Heyi Group is teaming up with another online business conglomerate, Alibaba, to better motivate entrepreneurs.

Heyi, formerly known as Youku Tudou, runs China's largest video-sharing website. According to the plan announced on Monday, it will make it easy for consumers to directly purchase products appearing in its videos from the platform supported by Alibaba-owned Taobao.com.

Mobile devices will be the focus of the new online shopping channel. Video providers will get commissions by successfully promoting relevant products in their content, even if they do not run their own online shops.

More channels will also help combine video uploaders' role as content providers and business operators.

The new plan will have a 1 billion yuan ($152 million) budget, which aims to nurture 100 entrepreneurs with more than 100 million yuan annual sales within the next three years, and 1,000 with more than 1 million yuan annual sales within the same period of time.
