When musician Gao Xiaosong composed the song Who Sleeps My Bro in 2001, his only wish was to have enough money to make a music video of the song.

Now 15 years later, Gao's dream comes true in an updated form.

The song, which won overnight fame in colleges and became part of a collective memory for the Chinese, is being adapted into a feature-length film.

A coming-of-age drama of the same name will hit mainland theaters on April 1.

Set in a university, the movie tells of the struggles, romances, joys and sorrows of four friends.

Young actors Chen Xiao, Du Tianhao, Li Ruilin and Li Xian star as the four friends.

Gao will be in charge of the music for the movie and Zhang Qi will take on the director's job.

An online series adapted from the song is being made available on the streaming-video site of LeTV.

Zhang Zhao, CEO of LeTV's film body Le Vision Pictures, says that the studio will cooperate with Gao to adapt more of his musical works into feature-length movies.
