A recent online post about henpecked men has stirred up a hot debate. Even though China is a patriarchal society, it has a long history of henpecked husbands in its folk culture. If you look up the dictionary, you will find “henpecked’ generally refers to those men who are intimidated by their wives and are too weak to contradict them. Our question is: Are they really afraid of their partners or is this just a strategy to keep up their marriages?
