The 2012 First Youth Film Festival' s youth training camp kicked off in Xining, Qinghai province, on July 25.
Domestic and international film experts are leading 12 young directors on a four-day intensive training course.
Michael Andreen, a US producer and production executive for films like “I am Legend” and “Master and Commander”, is one of the camp trainers.
In an exclusive interview with China Daily, Andreen shared his ideas on the important elements for the making of a good film, the development of young directors in China, the emergence of micro-film, and the secrets underlying the popularity of Hollywood movies. He also mentioned that his favorite Chinese director is Wong Kar-Wai.
