Two local officials injured in SW China shooting
CHENGDU -- Two leading officials in the southwestern Chinese city of Panzhihua, Sichuan province, were injured in a shooting incident on Wednesday morning, local authorities said.
The city's Party chief Zhang Yan and mayor Li Jianqin were injured around 10:50 am when they were having a meeting at a local conference and exhibition center.
They have no life threatening injuries, the publicity department of Panzhihua city confirmed.
The suspect, who was identified as the city's land and resources chief Chen Zhongshu, committed suicide after the shooting.
