Abbot Hsing Yun (front), one of Taiwan's most influential monks, poses with the head of a Buddha statue in Beijing on Feb 26, 2016. Abbot Hsing Yun donated the statue, which was stolen and lost overseas in the 1990s, to the Chinese mainland. The head, carved during the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577), originally belonged to Youju Temple in Lingshou county, North China's Hebei province. Abbot Hsing Yun received the statue as a gift from a follower in 2014. [Photo by Zou Hong/Asianewsphoto] |
