China World Mountain Documentary Festival kicks off

The 2nd China World Mountain Documentary Festival kicked off in Delingha county, Northwest China's Qinghai province on July 28.

Diji Majia, the head of the publicity department of Qinghai province, delivered a speech in the province's Delingha county during the opening ceremony of The 2nd China World Mountain Documentary Festival, July 28, 2012.

The festival is themed "Document and Witness the Visual Image of the Human's Mountain World" and has attracted 545 documentaries from 36 countries including the US, the UK, France, Australia, Japan and Italy,

It aims to provide a platform to display the history and culture of the mountain areas.

Diji Majia, highly appreciated the works the participators brought to the festival.

"They (the documentary producers) use their keen eyes to record the growing and dying mountain beauty," said he.

The festival consists of an opening ceremony, summit forum, outstanding mountain documentary screening, "Jade Kunlun," the international documentary films award and awards ceremony.
