A government official in Inner Mongolia has been caught hiding nearly a hundred pornographic videos in a cabinet containing numerous Buddhist statues and paintings, according to Xinhuanet.com.
Wu Zhizhong, former deputy secretary-general of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, reportedly chanted sutras and worshipped the Buddha images every day.
Zhao Jiujiu, acting chairman of the Inner Mongolia Buddhist Association, said it reflects Wu's loss of faith and emptiness of spirit.
Wu and two other senior officials are reported to be involved in various violations of laws and discipline.
Wu was found owning 33 properties in China and one in Canada. Authorities also ferreted out over 2,000 valuable items, including gold bars, silver bars, paintings and luxury watches.
