A bride, surnamed Ma, dressed in a suit normally associated with grooms, kneels near her husband, surnamed Yue, who is dressed like a bride, on their wedding day in Hua county, Henan province, May 1. The couple met two years ago in Yue's hometown in Jinhua city, Zhejiang province. According to Chinese tradition, the bride expects to live in her new husband's home after the wedding but this means that Ma will be living far from her parents. She wanted to hold a separate wedding ceremony in her hometown in Henan province to offer some sort of comfort to her parents by introducing a new "bride"- her husband dressed as a bride - and Yue agreed to the idea.
