Accidents involving special equipment, including boilers, elevators and cranes, claimed 24 lives and injured another 26 people during the month of November, China's quality watchdog announced on Friday.
The number of accidents having to do with special equipment totaled 16 last month and included seven involving elevators, two involving boilers and two involving cranes, Chen Xitong, spokesman for the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said at a news conference.
The number of accidents involving special equipment was 33.33 percent higher than in the same period last year, but the number of deaths fell by 7.69 percent from November 2012.
