SHANGHAI - A suspect was arrested on Tuesday after a the body of an infant boy was found in a washing machine in Shanghai in November, said local procuratorate authorities.

The suspect Lei, 22, was arrested on suspicion of the intentional homicide of her nephew, said the Songjiang District People's Procuratorate.

Shanghai police on November 24 received a report saying a four-month-old boy was missing from his home. On November 27, the body of the boy was found in a washing machine in his own home. Police confirmed that Lei was the major suspect.

Lei married in May 2012 and then gave birth to a baby girl. In July of this year, her husband's sister-in-law, who lives in the same house, gave birth to a son. Lei became psychologically imbalanced and transferred her anger to the four-month-old baby.

"I just wanted to let my anger out on her baby. I carried him into the washroom when I heard my father-in-law come home," said Lei's confession:"In panic, I covered his mouth and nose with my hands and soon after, I found the baby was still. I felt i was such a cruel person."
