CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co, a public transport vehicle manufacturer based in central China, has won the bid to build 30 light rail trains for Malaysia, the company said on Sunday.

CSR and Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad, a government-backed company for public transport services in Malaysia, will sign the cooperation agreement in the next three months.

The trains, comprising 180 carriages, will be delivered within 20 to 35 months after the deal is signed. Each will have a capacity of 1,300 people and be able to run at 80 kilometers per hour, said Li Jun, chief of technology for CSR.

The trains will run on the 27-km Ampang Line, one of the light rail transit systems in Kuala Lumpur’s Klang Valley.

CSR has received six orders from Malaysia amounting to nearly 8 billion yuan ($1.31 billion) since it entered the country’s transport equipment market in 2010.
