BEIJING - The Chinese Foreign Ministry has pledged to provide support and assistance for the survivors and the families of those who died in Monday's bus crash in Indonesia.
Four Chinese nationals were killed and nine others wounded in the accident on the island of Bali.
China's consulate general in Surabaya, capital of East Java Province, has begun an emergency mechanism, sent a working team to the site of the accident, visited the wounded and expressed condolences to the victims and the families of those who died, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Wednesday.
China has asked the Indonesian side to properly handle the treatment of the wounded and relevant issues related to the victims, Hong told a daily press conference.
China urged Indonesia to investigate the accident, and assist the families of the victims to deal with related issues, said the spokesman.
Officials from the tourism authority of central China's Henan Province and the travel agency that organized the tour have traveled to Indonesia.
The bus was carrying 13 Chinese visitors when it plunged into a ravine while traveling on a winding road.
