Online travel agency ctrip.com has introduced flight delay insurance to cope with the increasing disputes over flight delays, Chutian Metro Daily reported on Thursday.
If they have bought the insurance for 20 yuan ($3), passengers can receive compensation of 300 yuan if their flight is delayed for more than 3 hours.
The new insurance also promises that if the flight is canceled or changed, passengers can get 100 yuan compensation. The program currently only applies to domestic flights.
Similar programs have previously been introduced by taobao.com, China’s largest online marketplace, and Spring Airlines.
