Following the unsuccessful Autumn Harvest Uprising in September 1927, Mao Zedong led its remaining men to Jinggang Mountain, founding the first rural revolutionary base. From September 29 to October 3, 1927, Mao Zedong led the famous "Sanwan Reorganization" at Sanwan village in Yongxin county, Jiangxi Province. He created a new strategy of running the army, based on principles like "the Party commands the gun", "the Party branch is organized on a company basis", "officers and men receive equal treatment".
