Gao Anming, China Daily's deputy editor-in-chief, said on Sunday night that sound Sino-Japan relations can contribute to regional stability and world peace.
Gao made the statement at the welcome dinner for the eighth Beijing-Tokyo Forum, sponsored by China Daily and Genron NPO, a Japanese non-profit organization.
The future of Sino-Japan relations is dependent on the joint efforts of the people in China and Japan, and these strong ties are important to the two countries as well as the wider interests of Asia, Gao said.
Gao hopes the forum, a high-level public diplomatic communication platform between China and Japan, will play a pivotal role in promoting the mutual understanding and trust between Chinese and Japanese people as the two nations mark the 40th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations.
