Guangdong launches campaign against delayed salaries

The Guangdong provincial government will check the status of salary payments across the province, officials said on Wednesday.

The move follows a fire that killed 14 workers earlier this month in Shantou. The fire was set by a worker whose wages had been delayed.

The campaign, which will be conducted between mid-December and late January, aims to protect the interests of workers, according to a provincial government teleconference held on Wednesday.

Workers will also receive guidance on the way to claim delayed salaries according to the law.
