When Xing Lei graduated from university he decided to use his skills to help a remote village with traffic problems.
Born in the 1980s, Xing came to a crossroads in his career choice when he graduated from Jinggangshan University in Jiangxi in September 2009.
Instead of taking the civil servant examination or hunting for other jobs like his counterparts, he made up his mind to become a village officer of Sanwan village, located in Yongxin county, East China's Jiangxi province.
Upon taking office, Xing began making efforts to solve the problems and difficulties for villagers by instructing them on scientific methods and technology in agricultural production, helping to improve living conditions.
Thanks to Xing's work, Sanwan village has been rated as "China's Happy Village".
Three years of hard work and commitment has brought Xing extensive acclaim from the villagers.
He is determined to continue his work as their officer.
With a low-profile personality, Xing said, "The first task of being a village official is to be a loyal servant of your people. You should help them with what you have learned so that they will trust you. "
