Beijing plans to dramatically increase the reward for the Beijing People's Teacher award winners, from 10,000 yuan to 100,000 yuan, according to Beijing Daily. Nominees will also see their reward increased from 5,000 yuan to 20,000 yuan, as the city improves its teacher performance evaluation system. The winners are selected every four years and based on the recommendations of educational authorities in each district. Sept 10 marks the 28th Teachers Day, and this year's theme is "Be loyal to the Party's educational cause, and strive to be a teaching model."
