Sinopec, China's largest oil producer, is ready to start testing used cooking oil to fuel jets, catv.net reports.
A representative of Sinopec's Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company said they hoped to acquire the experiment authorization as early as January.
Sinopec is one of the major energy and chemical companies in China and is reportedly in talks with food chains like McDonald's to supply used cooking oil, according to the Economic Observer.
UK-based Thomson Airways and KLM Royal Dutch airlines have both launched flights using biofuel to cut emissions.
