The book details China's history from ancient times to 1911, when a revolution led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen overthrew the imperial Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and put an end to more than 2,000 years of feudal rule in China.
In the foreword, Jiang encouraged leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to learn more about China's past and use history as a reference when solving problems.
He asked Party officials to introduce Chinese history to the world so as to help foreigners better understand China.
The book was published by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a government think-tank.
