The death of an ordinary driver has aroused among his country fellows the yearning to show their dedication to whatever they do.

Wu Bin, a bus driver from Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, was struck in the torso by a piece of flying metal while taking 24 passengers on a business trip on May 29. The metal object, weighing 3.5 kilograms, smashed Wu's liver, but he still managed to stop the bus by the roadside, making sure that all passengers safely evacuated.

Colleagues remembered Wu as a bit introverted but very strict with whatever he did. He had driven for more than 1 million kilometers in 10 years without a single accident. His colleagues were not surprised at what he had done after he was fatally struck by the flying metal.

Thousands of his hometown fellows gave him a grand burial ceremony on May 4, showing their respect for this ordinary driver who deserves respect for his commitment to his work.

It is nothing but the devotion to his work that made him do what he did when he was at the end of his life. It was nothing unusual for him to steadily stop the bus by the roadside and make sure that all his passengers were safe when he could drive.

The flying piece of metal came from a broken brake from a vehicle on the opposite side of the highway.

Further investigation is ongoing.

Yet we can say for sure that this driver has set an example of an ordinary worker who knows what professional ethics mean. He may not have realized what his dedication meant to society.

His example shows that only when a majority of citizens realize how important the commitment to their work is to the happiness of all will it possible for the building of a harmonious society.
