GUIYANG - A collision between a bus and a mini-van on a highway in Southwest China's Guizhou province on Monday has left eight people dead and seven others injured, according to local authorities.

The accident took place at about 11 am on a highway near the city of Bijie, a municipal government spokesman said.

The injured have been rushed to hospital, he added.

Traffic police are investigating the cause of the incident.
